Cuando llegamos por primera vez, disfrutamos de ir a varios restaurantes étnicos y preparar comidas que yo llamaría típicas para nosotros como estadounidenses. Luego pasamos una semana en el centro de retiros católicos de la escuela de idiomas y nos sirvieron arroz dos veces al día (almuerzo y cena). El desayuno era generalmente avena o algo similar. Eso fue difícil. Tanto el arroz y la salsa que le pusieron no tenían un aspecto muy atractivo. Bible School promotion

Thanks for your letter and questions about the plans for the Bible school. I will do my best to explain what has happened.
To start with, one of the key tasks we were assigned was to evaluate the current program and need for pastoral training. I presented the results of a survey to the board earlier this year as well as a five-year vision for what needed to be done. The plan had everything: new curriculum, new campus, and plans for training lay pastors. The meeting went well, and a number of key decisions were made. Farming
Let tell you what it is like to farm here in Sierra Leone. It is all done by hand. There are no power tools, no tractors or equipment. Everything, and I mean everything, is done by hand and I mean everything. Imagine with me a piece of land the size of six football fields and you are going to clear that land of thick bush and hundreds of trees. I am so thankful for the years I spent on my grandpa’s farm when I was a teenager. He taught me the value of work. Continue reading “Letter 37 – Farming”
